FLORIDA BAR ETHICS OPINION
OPINION 59-41
May 17, 1960
Advisory ethics opinions are not binding.
It is not improper for a lawyer to form an association for a credit collection agency so long as he
adheres to the requirement that his law practice be disassociated from the separate business.
Canon:
27
Chairman Holcomb stated the opinion of the committee:
A member of The Florida Bar submits an inquiry regarding his forming an association for
a credit collection agency. We find no objection so long as he rigidly adheres to the requirements
of the Canons of Ethics that his law practice be entirely disassociated from a separate business
and so long as there is no form of advertisement which relates his law practice with the agency
and so long as the agency is not used as a means of channeling legal matters to him.
