Panel Descriptions

LAWYER REFERRAL PANEL (LRS) DESCRIPTIONS

REGULAR PANEL
Lawyers on the Regular Panel have agreed to provide a half-hour office consultation for no more than $ 25.00. Any fees after the first half-hour will be negotiated between the lawyer and the prospective client.

AIDS LAW PANEL

Any person who is HIV positive or has AIDS and has an AIDS-related legal problem qualifies for this panel. Lawyers on the AIDS Panel have agreed to grant an initial free one hour office consultation unless the client demonstrates an ability to provide such compensation for legal services, in which case the initial consultation fee shall be calculated at a rate not to exceed $50 per hour. Any charge for further legal services will be agreed upon with the client and in keeping with the stated objectives of the service and the client’s ability to pay. All AIDS Law Panel referrals are made on a pro bono basis and a panel attorney may collect a fee for legal services when authorized by statute or court order or when the client is reasonably able to pay. Lawyer will verify income eligibility. Not all areas of law may be handled under this panel.

DISABILITY LAW PANEL

Any person who is mentally or physically disabled and whose legal problem is due to their disability qualifies for this panel. Lawyers on the Disability Panel have agreed to provide a free one hour office consultation.All Disability Law Panel referrals are made on a pro bono basis. The attorney may receive a fee from such a referral only when authorized by statute or court order or when the client is reasonably able to pay. Any compensation for further services will be subject to agreement with the client and in keeping with the stated objectives of the Service and the client’s ability to pay. Lawyer will verify income eligibility. Not all areas of law may be handled under this panel.

ELDERLY REFERRAL PANEL

In an effort to meet the varied legal needs of the public, The Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service has established a Elderly Referral Panel. The Client qualifying for referral through this panel is entitled to a free initial 30-minute consultation. Lawyer will verify income eligibility. Not all areas of law may be handled under this panel.
