FLORIDA BAR LAUNCHES NEWLY ENHANCED LAWYER REFERRAL SERVICE
The improved online platform provides a reliable, easy-to-use way to connect with more than 600 Florida attorneys at no cost
When searching for a lawyer, the hardest part is often knowing where to start. Fortunately, help is available for Florida consumers in need of legal assistance.
The Florida Bar has launched a newly enhanced online Lawyer Referral Service designed to provide users with a modern, easy-to-navigate conduit to more than 600 participating Florida attorneys across 120 practice areas. The service, which is free to use, utilizes artificial intelligence categorization to help guide users from their computer or mobile device and instantly connects them with the right lawyer for any legal situation.
“Finding adequate legal counsel can be a stressful and difficult process, with many not knowing there are plenty of resources available to help,” said Florida Bar President Michelle R. Suskauer. “Technology can be a powerful bridge to open access to our courts. The Florida Bar’s Lawyer Referral Service makes finding an attorney easier and more convenient than ever before.”
The Florida Bar developed the enhanced platform in conjunction with legal technology company Legal.io to ensure that the needs and expectations of those seeking legal help during a rapidly transforming digital age are met. Among the features are the the option of selecting from 12 languages to receive help, a choice of up to four different practice areas, and a way to easily and confidentially make contact information available for referrals.
Created in 1972, The Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service makes more than 70,000 legal referrals annually by connecting Floridians to participating Bar members for legal services, either directly through the Bar’s program or by connecting them with local bar referral services. Local bar associations administer 11 lawyer referral services, operating in Florida’s major cities. The Florida Bar’s program handles all other referrals from areas without a local program. All attorneys on the platform are members of the Bar in good standing with malpractice insurance, guaranteeing each user is connected with a qualified attorney.
Florida residents can begin their search for an attorney by visiting the website and submitting an online request. Users are instructed to select their county and the practice area that relates to their question as well as contact information. Links to local bar association lawyer referral services are provided to those living outside The Florida Bar’s referral service coverage area.
“The enhanced Florida Bar Lawyer Referral System is a great tool for those seeking legal help, and can be a valuable resource for Florida Bar members looking to build their practices,” said Florida Bar President-elect John M. Stewart, who has worked for more than two years on enhancing this program for members and Floridians. “We expect these improvements to significantly boost the number of our members signing up, which will also provide a more diverse and deeper pool of attorneys for Floridians to choose from.”
