13TH CIRCUIT JNC ANNOUNCES AN ADDITIONAL COURT JUDICIAL VACANCY
The 13th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announces a second vacancy on the Circuit Court of the 13th Judicial Circuit in and for Hillsborough County created by the resignation of the Hon. Thomas P. Barber due to his confirmation by the U.S. Senate as a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
The Commission is now accepting applications to fill this vacancy. Applicants must be residents of Hillsborough County, registered voters, and members of The Florida Bar for the past five years. If you have submitted an application for the current opening on the Circuit Court Bench for the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Chet Tharpe, you do not have to submit a second application. All applications will be considered for both vacancies.
Applications can be downloaded from The Florida Bar’s website at www.floridabar.org by going to “Directories” at the bottom of the home page and clicking on “Judicial Nominating Commissions”. Applicants will be asked to provide their names, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and email addresses to facilitate communications with the Commission.
Applicants must submit a fully completed original and one copy of the application, together with a photograph attached to the original and to the copy, and a thumb/flash drive with the application, unredacted and redacted. In addition, applicants are requested to e-mail one electronic unredacted (PDF) copy of the application and one electronic redacted (PDF) copy of the application to Gilbert M. Singer, chair at the above e-mail address. Any material redacted by the applicant must be limited to exempt or confidential information that is exempt from public inspection pursuant to Chapter 119 and Florida’s public records law. Letters of Recommendation should be e-mailed to Gilbert M. Singer, chair, at the above e-mail address unless they are contained within the application package. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Send all packages to Gilbert M. Singer, chair, Marcadis Singer, P. A., 5104 South Westshore Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33611, no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10. The Commission will meet on July 16, at 3 p.m. at the law offices of Bush Ross, P. A., 1801 N. Highland Ave., Tampa to determine which applicants will be interviewed for both current openings. Applicants and the public will be advised in subsequent news releases of the applicant pool relating to these vacancies. The Commission will conduct interviews on July 24, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Bush Ross, P. A. Applicants will be notified via e-mail of their interview time. The Commission will submit the names of nominees for both vacant judgeships to Gov. Ron DeSantis on or before July 29.
