2ND CIRCUIT JNC PLANS ADDITIONAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

As a result of the elevation of Judge Robert Long, Jr., to the First District Court of Appeal, there is a vacancy on the Second Circuit Court bench. Additionally, because of the elevation of Judge Layne Smith to the Second Circuit Court, there is a vacancy on the Leon County Court bench.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has the extended the deadline for the Second Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission to provide him with highly qualified nominees to Aug. 17, 2020. Accordingly, the JNC will conduct an additional organizational meeting to select a new application submission deadline and interview date(s), and to schedule a conference call to review the list of applicants and assign vetting. The previously announced application submission deadline, interview date, and conference call can be disregarded.

The JNC will conduct the additional organizational meeting at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, telephonically at 1-866-398-2885, Participant Passcode 132494. Members of the public are invited to attend.
