Fourth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission

As a result of the retirement of The Hon. David Gooding from the Fourth Judicial Circuit Bench, there now exists a vacancy on the Circuit Court Bench.  Gov. Ron DeSantis has asked the Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission to provide him with nominees for this vacancy. The Commission received twelve applications and will interview the applicants on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020 commencing at 9 a.m.

Interviews will take place in the Chambers of The Hon. Mark H. Mahon, Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial Circuit, located at the Duval County Courthouse, Room 7139, Duval County Courthouse, 501 W. Adams St., Jacksonville, Florida.

Due to restrictions in place at this time as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, only the applicants and the Commission will be in-person for the interviews. All members of the press and public who wish to participate in these interviews will be allowed to participate via Zoom at the link provided below but the connections will be muted and not visual to Commissioners and Applicants.  If there are disruptive background noises, lines may be disconnected.

All proceedings of this Judicial Nominating Commission are open to the public, with the limitations noted above for the purposes of the Oct. 22, 2020 interviews, except for deliberations.  Accordingly, applicants should not expect their application to be kept confidential.  If an applicant is nominated by this Commission, all materials attached to the original application along with any supplemental materials will be submitted to Gov. DeSantis’s Office.
