The Sixth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announces a judicial vacancy in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court due to the retirement of the Hon. Thomas H. Minkoff. The Sixth Circuit JNC seeks applications for nominations from all persons who meet eligibility requirements set forth in the Florida Constitution.

This application process is being conducted concurrently with the pending application process for the Circuit Court vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Peter Ramsberger and the Pinellas County Court vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Joshua Riba.

Applicants who have applied for consideration to be nominated to fill Judge Ramsberger’s seat and received a receipt of a completed application from the JNC do not need to re-apply to be considered to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Minkoff.

Applicants who applied only to be considered for nomination to fill the Pinellas County Court vacancy may notify the chair of their desire to have their pending application considered for the Circuit Court vacancies via e-mail to  [email protected] by the deadline outlined below. Those who applications were deemed incomplete, untimely or otherwise not accepted by the JNC for the current vacancies must re-apply and submit a complete application by the new deadline outlined below.

Applicants must be able to fulfill the constitutional qualifications before assuming the office of Circuit Court Judge, which require the person to be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, a resident of Pinellas or Pasco County, and a registered voter in the State of Florida.

Application forms for the judgeship may be downloaded from Gov. Ron DeSantis’ website. Applications can also be obtained from the Commission Chair, Brian J. Aungst, Jr. (see address and email below). As of July 1, 2020, there have been changes made to the Application for Judicial vacancies. Applicants must complete the current Application for Judicial vacancies. The cover letter must also indicate whether the applicant is willing to be interviewed in person or remotely.

The original completed application with attachments, one copy of the original with attachments that has been redacted as required by the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, a flash drive with both original and redacted applications with attachments, and a recent photo must be physically delivered to Brian J.
