THIRD CIRCUIT JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION NOTICE OF HAMILTON COUNTY JUDICIAL VACANCY
The Third Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee announces a vacancy in the Hamilton County Court due to the resignation of Judge Kenneth M. “Sonny” Scaff Jr,. Accordingly, the Judicial Nominating Commission seeks applications for nomination from all persons who meet the eligibility requirements set forth in the Florida Constitution.
Applicants must be able to fulfill the Constitutional qualifications before assuming the office of Hamilton County Court Judge, which require the person to be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, a resident of Hamilton County as of the date Gov. Ron DeSantis makes the appointment, and a registered voter in the State of Florida.
Application forms for the judgeship may be downloaded from the Office of Gov. Ron DeSantis’s website. As of July 1, 2020, there have been changes made to the Application for Judicial vacancies. Applicants must complete the current Application for Judicial vacancies.
All applicants must submit the following: a .pdf version of the completed unredacted application with attachments, including the executed FDLE form, and a color photograph in .jpg or .gif format; and a .pdf version of a redacted copy of the completed application excluding all exempt information pursuant to Chapter 119, Florida Statutes. The .pdf files should be titled in the name of the applicant (Doe.John.pdf) and labeled “redacted” or “original” as applicable.
Applications must be delivered by email to James E. Willingham, Jr., Esq., Chair; [email protected] no later than 5:00 p.m. on November 21, 2022. Incomplete applications and applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Applicants receiving interviews will be interviewed on December 9, 2022 at the Hamilton County Courthouse, 207 NE First St., Jasper, Florida 32052 and will be notified of the time of his or her interview. Interviews will be conducted in person and are open to the public.
