Anne V. Piervil is the recipient of the 2026 Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Service Award. The award recognizes public service or legal aid performed by a lawyer who is 35 or younger or who has not practiced for more than five years. The award will be presented in a Jan. 22 ceremony streamed live by the Supreme Court of Florida.

Since joining Florida Legal Services in 2020 as an Equal Justice Works Fellow, Piervil’s work has focused on improving the lives of the local Haitian community and expanding the legal resources available to them. Piervil’s fellowship project leveraged her status as a Haitian American attorney to make inroads with Central Florida’s Haitian community, helping ensure the success of the Medical Legal Partnership (MLP) she established to serve Haitian farmworkers. Through the MLP, which was built in partnership with Orange Blossom Family Health Clinic in Orlando, Piervil represented more than 60 clients during her fellowship alone.

In response to the recent revocation of temporary protection status, or TPS, for Venezuelan immigrants, Piervil has been part of a local push to educate immigrants about their rights, to fight misinformation, and calm fears. As part of this initiative, she leads seminars to inform Haitians about their constitutional rights — and the steps they should take to check and update their legal status. She also works with the Greater Haitian American Chamber of Commerce and other groups to help ensure the local Haitian community receives accurate and timely information on changes in immigration law that affect them.

In addition to these community focused initiatives, Piervil continues to provide direct representation and legal services through Florida Legal Services as a member of their Survivor Advocacy team.

Previously, she has collaborated with organizations like The Farmworker Association of Florida and Local 362, an affiliate of UNITE HERE, which represent and serve the Haitian community, to assist individuals applying for U.S. citizenship. She has also provided free legal consultations at The Farmworker Association of Florida’s Apopka office and at its University of Central Florida clinic.

This year’s awards ceremony, which also honors Individual, Circuit, Voluntary Bar, Law Firm, Distinguished Judicial Service, and Distinguished Federal Judicial Service pro bono efforts, takes place at the Florida Supreme Court on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 3:30 p.m. Watch it live on FacebookWFSU: Gavel to Gavel and the Florida Channel.
