BAR EXAMINERS SEEK CHANGE TO HOW NOMINATIONS TO ITS BOARD ARE MADE

A verbal request made by the Florida Board of Bar Examiners would reconstitute the joint committee responsible for selecting FBBE members from an even split between representatives of the FBBE and the Florida Bar Board of Governors to four FBBE members and two Board of Governors representatives. FBBE Chair Scott Baena said that while the proposed rule change would reduce the Board of Governors’ participation in the board selection process, it is “not about disenchantment or criticism,” but rather “institutional self-determination.”

BAR WORKS TO BRING MEMBERS INTO COMPLIANCE WITH TRUST ACCOUNT CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT

The Florida Bar is again reaching out to members who did not complete their Trust Account Compliance Certificate when they remitted their annual fee statement and are now considered delinquent. Those who did not complete the Trust Account Compliance Certificate by September 30 are considered delinquent and their public profile on the Bar’s website shows that they are not eligible to practice law in Florida.
