    BOARD TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE WOULD LIKE TO SEE UNIFORMITY FOR REMOTE PROCEEDINGS

    The Daily News Summary features Florida Bar News articles on the new president of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association and more uniformity for remote court proceedings. At a June meeting, the Board Technology Committee discussed technical challenges lawyers have faced since March when the Supreme Court suspended most in-person proceedings. Immediate past Chair Renée Thompson suggested that the committee consider recommending a set of best practices to the Florida Courts Technology Commission that could serve as guidelines for each of the state’s 20 judicial circuits.

    FAMU COLLEGE OF LAW COURSES WILL REMAIN ONLINE FOR THE FALL SEMESTER

    All courses this fall at the Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando will be taught online, Dean Deidré Keller announced Monday [July 6]. Classes for the more than 500 FAMU Law students have been taught online since March 23. The law school will address the transition to online instruction with incoming and current students, faculty and staff through additional communications, including virtual town hall meetings set for Thursday [July 9].

    Edwards & Ragatz partner Tom Edwards was unanimously elected by the Florida Justice Association to receive the Al J. Cone Lifetime Achievement Award for protecting consumer rights and the justice system. The Al J. Cone Lifetime Achievement Award is named for the founding president of the Florida Justice Association (formerly the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers) who dedicated nearly 50 years to protecting civil justice and the rights of working people.
