Whenever a judicial vacancy occurs, the governor fills the vacancy by appointment from a list of candidates nominated by the circuit’s Judicial Nominating Commission.

Applications for nomination to a judicial seat and applications for appointment to serve on a Judicial Nominating Commission can be found on this page; Judicial Nominating Commission member lists can be found here.  Current judicial vacancies include:

4th Judicial Circuit

The Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission will interview applicants for a vacancy on the Fourth Circuit Court created by the resignation of The Honorable Robert M. Foster. Applications for this vacancy must be received by May 23.

12th Judicial Circuit

The Twelfth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is accepting applications for a judicial vacancy in Sarasota County created by the resignation of the Honorable Judy Goldman. Applications must be received by May 25.

17th Judicial Circuit

The Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is accepting applications for two vacancies on the Circuit Court created by the resignation of Circuit Judge Merrilee Ehrlich and the retirement of Circuit Judge Lisa M. Porter. Applications for these vacancies must be received by May 30.

10th Judicial Circuit

The Tenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announces one new vacancy due to the appointment of Polk County Judge Gerald P. Hill, II to the Circuit Court. Applications must be submitted no later than June 8.
