On July 7, 2017, Gov. Rick Scott declared a vacancy on the Monroe County Court, brought about by the retirement of Judge Wayne Miller. Accordingly, the Sixteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) is now accepting applications for this vacancy.
Qualification of Applicants:
Applicants for this judgeship must have been a member of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, must be registered to vote in the state of Florida, and must reside in Monroe County at the time the successful applicant is sworn into office.
Instructions for Submission:
Application forms for the judgeship are available on the Governor's website (www.flgov.com) by clicking on the "Judicial" tab. Applications may also be obtained from the Nominating Commission Chair, Bob Shillinger, whose address and telephone number appears below. The original and nine copies of the completed application (no notebooks or binders, please) must be delivered to the Commission Chair at the address appearing below no later than 5 pm on Monday July 24, 2017. Applications that are not received by the specified deadline will not be considered by the Commission. Applicants are requested to submit an additional copy of his or her application which has been redacted to delete all information deemed confidential and exempt under Florida law.
