Joseph B. Schimmel of Cohen, Chase Hoffman and Schimmel in Miami has been elected as a fellow of The American College of Tax Counsel.

Eric C. Boughman and J. Brian Page of Forster Boughman Lefkowitz & Lowe led a roundtable discussion on the topic of “Avoiding Lawsuits and Protecting Your Assets” and Teresa N. Phillips and Charles W. (Skip) Sell led a roundtable on “Fraud and Embezzlement Protection” at the Medical and Dental Workshop for Physicians, Dentists, and Practice Managers workshop in Winter Park.

Madeleine Q. Mannello of Hinshaw & Culbertson in Ft. Lauderdale has been elected president of the Broward County Women Lawyers’ Association, the Broward Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers.

Lonnie Groot of Daytona Beach Shores taught six class periods at Creekside Middle School in Port Orange as the School celebrated Freedom Week.

Willard A. Blair of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Tampa has been elected to the advisory board of the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors.

Michael Haggard, Todd Michaels, and Doug McCarron of The Haggard Law Firm each led seminars during the Florida Justice Association’s Annual Convention. Haggard discussed opening statements. Michaels spoke about negligent security cases. McCarron discussed the challenges of “Navigating Road Construction Cases.”

David H. Lichter of Aventura has been appointed to the roster of healthcare mediators and arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association, where he already serves as a member of its Large Complex, Commercial and Employment rosters.

Anne-Marie L. Bowen of Anne-Marie L. Bowen, P.A. in Orlando has just had her second book published. “Forgive Us Our Debts: When is it Okay for Christians to File Bankruptcy” is now available at Amazon.com in paperback and on Kindle.

Bill Curphey of Curphey & Badger in Clearwater spoke at the NTCA, Rural Broadband Association Fall Conference in Seattle, WA, on “Rural Telcom in the #Metoo Era; Sexual Harassment, Your Employees and the Law.”

Rev. John P. Joseph of the Church Legal Center in St. Petersburg spoke to senior class ministry/Bible majors at Southeastern University in Lakeland on “Current Legal Topics in Ministry.”

Traci McKee of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt in Ft. Myers was sworn in as president of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.

Robyn Rusignuolo, chief operating officer of Modern Business Associates, Inc., in St. Petersburg, spoke on the Sexual Harassment in the Workplace panel at the 73rd Annual Workers’ Compensation Institute conference in Orlando. She was also recently elected to serve as vice chair of the American Stage Theatre Company’s Board of Trustees.

Todd Michaels of The Haggard Law Firm was voted to serve on the Florida Justice Association’s Executive Committee.
