Clarification

In a May 15 article headlined “Referrals, swipe fees, mental health fill the board’s agenda” it should be made clear the lawyers who accept payments by credit card have to make up the difference between what the lawyer charged and what the credit card company paid (the companies pay the amount less their fees). For advance fees or costs, the lawyer has to put the full amount charged to the client in trust (part from the credit card company and part the lawyer’s own money to pay the credit card fee). The language in the original story could have been interpreted differently.
