The Florida Registered Paralegal Program Committee and the Bar Journal & News have been added to the reviews to be undertaken in the coming year by the Program Evaluation Committee.
PEC Chair Renée Thompson reported to the Board of Governors at its recent Miami meeting that the committee wanted to add those two operations to the four reviews it has already undertaken this year.
Three of the programs being reviewed are Florida Lawyers Assistance, Inc. (board member Brian Burgoon is chairing that subcommittee), the Bar’s Practice Resource Institute (board member Melissa VanSickle leads that subcommittee), the Diversity and Inclusion Committee (board member Scott Westheimer heads that subcommittee).
In addition to those reviews, Thompson said that Chair-elect Wayne Helsby will head the Implementation Committee, which will study whether the PEC’s board-approved past recommendations on Bar programs and operations have been carried out.
Thompson said the committee unanimously voted to add the paralegal committee and the Journal & News to the scheduled evaluations in the coming year, and the board unanimously approved.
In his report, Westheimer, Communications Committee chair, said the review will include looking at whether the Bar should go to an all or partial digital format for the magazine, the Journal, and the News, the newspaper.
