STEVEN A. EDELSTEIN of Coral Gables was recently appointed to the rank of “Officer in the National Order of the Legion of Honor,” the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits. The honor, bestowed by the president of the Republic of France, recognizes Edelstein’s “exceptional commitment to French-American relations.” Edelstein is a founding member of the France Florida Foundation for the Arts, which promotes a greater international understanding between France and Florida by facilitating cultural, educational, and artistic exchanges. He also represented the French Consulate on a pro bono basis, with regard to a variety of matters since 1990, and represents many French nonprofit organizations in South Florida. Pictured is French Brig. Gen. Thierry Ducret, pinning the medal on Edelstein at a reception in his honor at the French consular residence in Miami, which was attended by many civil and military dignitaries from the U.S. and France.
