The Florida Bar Law Related Education Committee, in coordination with Justice Teaching founder Justice Fred Lewis, is seeking nominations for the Justice Teaching Select Committee “Judge of the Year,” a Justice Teaching “Volunteer of the Year,” and a Justice Teaching “Teacher of the Year” for the 2017-2018 school year.
Judge Christopher N. Patterson of Bonifay was the Justice Teaching Judge of the Year in 2017. Since he became a member of The Florida Bar in 1985, he has volunteered his time to civics education. To address a high rate of juvenile arrest in the middle school ages, he is redirecting youth by instilling in them values and encouraging them to be on the right side of the law.
The Justice Teaching Award packet can be downloaded at www.floridabar.org/justiceteachingawards. Nominations are due on March 15. Nomination forms and submission instructions are included in the packet.
