HCBA honors BALS’ Stanley
Every year, the Hillsborough County Bar Association awards one attorney with its Outstanding Young Attorney Award.
Typically, this award goes to someone in the private bar sector, but the 2018 award was presented to staff attorney Linda Anderson Stanley at the nonprofit legal aid firm Bay Area Legal Services. This accolade is awarded to a young attorney who has proven to be exemplary in the practice of law and has provided service to the community at a personal level.
Stanley dedicates her professional career to serving at-risk veterans, disaster victims, and other low-income residents of Hillsborough County. One of her clients said, “She has great moral attributes; is a qualified, educated, experienced professional; dedicated and unwavering in her work; pleasant, polite, and personable. Most of all, she is 100 percent human. She helped me to keep a roof over my family’s head in a very peaceful manner.”
In her spare time, she has raised money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She is a member of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Disaster Legal Services Team and serves as co-chair of the HCBA YLD Pro Bono Committee. She also implemented and managed the newly established iLawyer clinic, which pairs low income residents with pro bono attorneys via Skype.
