S econd DCA visits
Cooley in Tampa

The Second District Court of Appeal held oral arguments in the courtroom of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Tampa Bay area campus.

In attendance were over 70 students, members of faculty, and staff. Haile Spratt, president of the Tampa Bay campus Student Bar Association, noted that students found the event “very informative.”

The law school was transformed into a virtual court site where students, attorneys, and members of the public had to go through a similar security screening, as if they were at the actual courtroom.

The Second District Court of Appeal covers 14 counties and a population of approximately 3.8 million.

While at Cooley, cases were heard by a three-judge panel of the 14 judges that currently make up the Second DCA: Chief Judge Morris Silberman, Judge Craig C. Villanti, and Judge Douglas A. Wallace.
