Benjamin R. Hanan of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Sarasota has been named vice chair of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County.

Laird A. Lile of Naples participated in the fall meeting of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel in Baltimore. Lile serves on the program committee for the college, which developed the continuing education component of the meeting for hundreds of trust and estate attorneys from across the U.S.

Jon Agee of Ft. Lauderdale recently published a historical novel, The Lost Testimony of Bones LeBeau. It is the account of a fictional witness to the plot to assassinate President Kennedy from inception through implementation. See for more information.

Karen Josefsberg Ladis of Dade Legal Aid Put Something Back Pro Bono Project was appointed to the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono.

Miles McGrane of McGrane Nosich & Ganz in Coral Gables has been named to a second two-year term as chair of the Judicial Qualifications Commission.

William Boshnick of Greenblum & Bernstein in Reston, VA, lectured before the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in Takamatsu, Japan. Boshnick discussed recent patent litigation decisions in the U.S.

David S. Hendrix of GrayRobinson in Tampa has been appointed to the Boy Scouts of America Southern Region Board of Directors and vice president of council operations for the state of Florida for the Boy Scouts of America.

R. Terry Rigsby of Carlton Fields in Tallahassee has become a member of the board of directors of the Florida Academy of Healthcare Attorneys.

Bartley, and Clinton Wright of Kelley, Kronenberg, Gilmartin, Fichtel, Wander, Bamdas, Eskalyo & Dunbrack were featured speakers at an employment law seminar for HR executives in Ft. Myers hosted by Lykes Insurance. Filippi of Ft. Lauderdale discussed the Family & Medical Leave Act, the American Disabilities Act, and the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act. Bartley of Ft. Myers gave an update on workers’ comp cases. Wright of Jacksonville gave an overview of OSHA regulations.
