JUDGE RODOLFO “RUDY” RUIZ may still be fairly new to the judiciary, but he has already made a significant, positive impact on the children of Miami-Dade County. Judge Ruiz is assigned as the Justice Teaching volunteer to Kensington Park Elementary School, and, during his recent visit, the teachers requested he focus on bullying, an important topic for the fourth-grade students. Ruiz used two JT lesson plans that specifically addressed bullying — the first discussed bullying behavior, and the second was about personality traits traditionally exhibited by a bully. According to Judge Ruiz, the lesson plans provided a basis for expanded discussions on why people bully and on personal experiences with bullying behavior.
