Florida Chief Justice Jorge Labarga is accepting resumes for the three appointments he must make to the Florida Constitution Revision Commission, which will begin to meet next year.
“I recognize that my appointments to the CRC are of the utmost importance to the people of this state,” said Labarga. “That’s why I have decided to invite resumes for the three positions so we can draw from the broadest possible pool.”
Under a provision of the Florida Constitution, the 37-member CRC is created every 20 years to consider revising the state’s constitutional charter or any part of it. Its members are appointed by the governor, the president of the Senate, the speaker of the House, and the chief justice. The attorney general automatically sits as a member.
Labarga, 63, must make his three appointments with the advice of his colleagues on the state’s high court.
Resumes should be submitted by December 31, according to the instructions on this website: www.floridasupremecourt.org/pub_info/crc.shtml.
