Message from the 2019-2020 SLC Chair

Welcome to the First Edition of the Senior Lawyers Committee Newsletter. Thank you to Susan Healy and her Subcommittee for their tireless work in making this Newsletter possible.

While all members of The Florida Bar are welcome to join the Senior Lawyers Committee, our goal is to provide services and information to experienced Florida lawyers to assist them with respect to answering the question of “what is next”. For many it will be continuing the practice of law in their existing firms or setting up their own practice. Some will use their skills to assist others by providing pro bono services or mentoring less experienced lawyers. Others may be interested in investigating new opportunities. In furtherance of this goal, under the leadership of Andromeda Monroe, the Committee is creating a website which will contain articles of interest and link to a multitude of sites that will provide a variety of interesting references. She provides a preview of the website in her article.

Under the leadership of Dick Caldwell and Donald Smith, the Committee presents two CLEs each year which you can attend in person or by phone for no fee. We also have a bank of CLEs that you can reference to receive credit as long as you do so within the Bar’s requisite credit period, including two recorded presentations that can be accessed from links in this newsletter.

Under the leadership of Judith Paul, the Committee is planning the recognition luncheon at the Annual Meeting of The Florida Bar for our colleagues who have practiced law for 50 years.
