A new Twitter option allows businesses to apply for professional profiles. It is an excellent opportunity for smaller firms to expand their visibility significantly.

It has been in test mode, and due to its success, it is now available to everyone creating more comprehensive and potentially global opportunities for new connections.

Previously, Twitter invited businesses to get a standard profile, but now, by meeting certain criteria, you can get a professional profile — and it’s free! You can include information such as location, a map, and directions to your office that cannot be added to standard profiles. You can also add operating hours and availability via phone, text and email, and use the Twitter Direct Message feature.

There are a few requirements to qualify:

  • A standard account can be converted to a professional account by simply going to Settings and clicking on “Switch to Professional” and following the instructions.
  • A physical location is required, whether it is a location where potential clients can meet with you in person or virtual consultations parlaying to face-to-face meetings.
  • For now, you must be U.S. based and use Twitter in English.

New features you can add to your firm’s professional profile are the “Shop” option and the “Newsletter” option, which allow for mailing list sign ups.

With Twitter’s wide-reaching influence and availability, it is certainly a great opportunity for firms to build their connections.
