Begin by pressing the Windows Key + U on the keyboard to launch the Accessibility settings. Alternatively, you can click the Start Menu > Settings > Accessibility. Next, on the panel on the right, choose Speech under Interaction.

From there, toggle on the Windows Speech Recognition switch. You can also use the Keyboard shortcut Windows Key + Ctrl + S to switch on or off the Windows speech recognition.

Once you have done that, a Setup Wizard will pop up. Click Next to set up the Microphone and the Speech Recognition partialities.

Next, choose a microphone that matches the one you are using. You can choose a headset microphone, desktop microphone, or other. Select Other if your PC comes with a built-in microphone or uses a webcam. Test your microphone, then tap on the Next button.

Choose Enable document review to improve Windows Speech Recognition accuracy. From there, tap Next.

Activate the speech recognition software by choosing either manual activation mode or voice activation mode.

Wrap up the settings by ticking the Run Speech Recognition at the start-up check box. This will allow the feature to launch automatically. Tap Next to finish the setup.

Once you have activated the Window Speech Recognition, a toolbar will pop up at the top of the screen. Refer to the Speech Reference Card to command your device via your voice. With the help of this feature, you can open and close applications, perform mouse actions, and much more.
