Law Day 2016

Law Day 2016 Miranda more than wordsIn 2016, the nation marks the 50th anniversary of perhaps the nation’s best-known U.S. Supreme Court case, Miranda v. Arizona. The 2016 Law Day theme — Miranda: More than Words — goes beyond the familiar Miranda Warning and will explore the procedural protections afforded to all of us by the U.S. Constitution, how these rights are safeguarded by the courts, and why the preservation of these principles is essential to our liberty.

For your information and use,
ABA has prepared a Law Day 2016 Planning Guide External Link. The Guide is loaded with resources to assist in your organizations upcoming Law Day celebration.

There are also other materials available on the ABA Law Day website at
www.lawday.org.

Gov. Rick Scott has officially declared May 1, 2016, as Law Day in Florida. The proclamation can be used for local bar events statewide.

As in the past, we want to feature Law Day events in Bar-to-Bar E-News and share with other voluntary bar leaders through The Florida Bar social media networks. Please include jdoran@flabar.org in any Law Day distribution of your event.
