Bar’s Executive Committee set
B ar’s Executive Committee setThree prominent attorneys were elected or re-elected to the Board of Governors’ Executive Committee in May.
They are: Melissa VanSickle, Second Circuit; Wayne LaRue Smith, 16th Circuit; and Brian Burgoon, an Out of State representative from Atlanta.
VanSickle is a partner with Broad and Cassel in Tallahassee and focuses on commercial real estate. An adjunct professor at her alma mater, Florida State University College of Law, and a former president of the Tallahassee Bar, VanSickle was first elected to the board in 2016. She also serves on the executive council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and is a graduate of the Bar’s Leadership Academy.
Smith is a principal of the Smith Law Firm in Key West where he practices commercial and corporate real estate and estate planning. A graduate of the University of Arizona School of Law, Smith also holds an MBA from Arizona State University and formerly headed a business that provided law office staffing and computer implementation. A board member of Florida Lawyers Assistance, Inc., Smith is a past president of the Monroe County Bar.
Burgoon is the founder of the Burgoon Law Firm in Atlanta and focuses on a wide range of business, corporate, and aviation law. A University of Florida College of Law graduate and a member of the school’s board of trustees, Burgoon was first elected to the board in 2000. His current Executive Committee term would have expired this year.
