CABA Foundation awards law student scholarships
The Foundation awarded a total of $64,000 in scholarships with eight applicants receiving $5,000 and another eight applicants receiving $3,000
The CABA Foundation recently awarded scholarships to 16 law students at its annual reception at the law offices of Rivero Mestre in Coral Gables.
The Foundation awarded a total of $64,000 in scholarships with eight applicants receiving $5,000 and another eight applicants receiving $3,000. This is the highest amount awarded to date. The Cuban American Bar Association’s 50th anniversary gala fundraising and contributions this year made the scholarships possible.
“Students were selected based on a rigorous review by CABA Foundation board members of their applications and submissions,” said CABA’s President Javier Ley-Soto. “We were very pleased to award these 16 deserving applicants with scholarships to help them advance their education.”
The CABA Foundation is dedicated to promoting and assisting Cuban American law students and other law students interested in the activities of importance to the Cuban American community.
Giselle Gutierrez, CABA Foundation president and a prior scholarship recipient, is focused on continuing to grow the Foundation’s Fellows program and to further its mission of supporting and empowering aspiring lawyers.
“I am especially proud that we have awarded the highest number of scholarships in the history of our Foundation,” said Gutierrez. “This milestone, along with the various endowments we have at law schools, underscores our dedication to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals.”
