CABA hosts leadership training program at Annual Florida Bar Convention

The Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) recently held its third Leadership, Education, And, Development (L.E.A.D.) program session at the Annual Florida Bar Convention in June in Orlando.

L.E.A.D. is designed to provide CABA fellows with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to be effective leaders within CABA, The Florida Bar, and their communities. The multi-day sessions are designed to assist the diverse and inclusive group of lawyers in becoming better leaders within the legal profession.

“We were very pleased to host our third session of L.E.A.D. at The Florida Bar’s convention this year,” said CABA President Javier Ley-Soto. “Our fellows had the opportunity to interact with the speakers as well as leaders in Florida’s legal community.”

The third program session, “Leadership in Action: Networking and Mentorship,” included guest speakers Ramón A. Abadín of Ramón A. Abadín, P.A., and past president of both The Florida Bar and CABA; Scott Westheimer of Syprett Meshad and immediate past president of The Florida Bar; Roland Sanchez-Medina, Jr., of Sanchez-Medina, Gonzalez, Quesada, Lage, Gomez & Machado and current Bar president and a past CABA president; Rosalyn Sia Baker-Barnes of Searcy Denney and Bar president-elect; and Florida Supreme Court Justices Jorge Labarga and Meredith L. Sasso.

Other speakers included Jorge L. Piedra of Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, a CABA past president and Florida Bar Board of Governors member; Mike Orr of  Orr | Cook and Florida Bar Board of Governors member; Amanda Fernandez of Rivero Mestre and CABA president-elect; Anisha Patel, of Hill Ward Henderson and immediate past president Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division; Ashlea Edwards of Akerman and president of the YLD; Arti Hirani of Meenakshi A. Hirani, P.A., and president-elect of the YLD; 13th Circuit Judge Michael Baggé-Hernandez; and Miami-Dade County Judge Stephanie Silver.
