Cuban American Bar Association adds new membership category for paralegals
Members of the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) have overwhelmingly approved amendments to the organization’s bylaws that include the creation of a new membership category specifically for paralegals.
The approval was confirmed late last year at CABA’s annual meeting.
“We are thrilled to welcome eligible paralegals into the organization,” said CABA President Amanda L. Fernandez. “This new membership level reflects our commitment to inclusivity and recognizes the invaluable contributions of paralegals to the legal field.”
Eligible paralegals may apply immediately with a membership rate of $90 for the remaining portion of the 2024-2025 membership year which ends in September. Thereafter, the board of directors will set the annual membership dues.
To be eligible for active CABA membership as a paralegal, individuals must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Florida Registered Paralegal in good standing with The Florida Bar. Paralegals with similar certification from an analogous bar of another state, commonwealth, federal district or territory in the United States may also be eligible at the discretion of CABA’s board of directors.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in, or sympathy with, the purposes of CABA as outlined in Article II of the organization’s bylaws.
Paralegal members, like other current membership levels, will enjoy a range of benefits, including:
- Networking Opportunities: Access to CABA events and networking opportunities with attorneys, judges, and other legal professionals.
- Professional Development: Participation in continuing legal education programs tailored to paralegals.
- Community Involvement: Opportunities to contribute to CABA’s community outreach initiatives.
- Membership Directory Listing: Inclusion in the CABA membership directory.
