Deadline extended to apply to sit on the state’s JNCs
The Florida Bar Board of Governors is seeking applicants for to fill Judicial Nominating Commission vacancies.
Judicial Nominating Commissions: The Florida Bar has the opportunity to nominate three attorneys for each Judicial Nominating Commission to the governor for his appointment. Judicial Nominating Commission vacancies: Sixth DCA (one seat), 1st Judicial Circuit (two seats), Second Judicial Circuit (one seat), Third Judicial Circuit (three seats), Fifth Judicial Circuit (one seat), Eighth Judicial Circuit (one seat), Ninth Judicial Circuit (one seat), 10th Judicial Circuit (one seat), 14th Judicial Circuit (two seats), 15th Judicial Circuit (one seat), 16th Judicial Circuit (three seats), 19th Judicial Circuit (two seats), and 20th Judicial Circuit (one seat). Each appointee will serve the remainder of four-year term, with the term commencing upon appointment. Applicants must be members of The Florida Bar engaged in the practice of law and a resident of the territorial jurisdiction served by the commission to which the member is applying. Commissioners are not eligible for state judicial office for vacancies filled by the JNC on which they sit for two years following completion of their term.
Applications will be accepted until the minimum number of applicants required, has been met. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of an application. Screening committees of the Board of Governors will review all JNC applications.
