Edward K. Cheffy is the recipient of the 2025 Justice Harry Lee Anstead Award, which recognizes The Florida Bar Board Certified Lawyer of the Year.
The Board of Legal Specialization and Education created the award to honor exemplary professionalism, excellence, character, and commitment to the certification program.
Chief Justice Carlos Muñiz presented this year’s award to Cheffy at the Annual Florida Bar Convention in Boca Raton on June 26.
Cheffy, of Cheffy Passidomo in Naples, is board certified in Business Litigation and Civil Trial. Muñiz noted that Cheffy is a well-known advocate for mentorship and professionalism and is highly respected across the state.
Cheffy is an active member of the Lion of Law Committee, which recognizes local attorneys for their professionalism in the legal community. He also coached the Community School of Naples mock trial team to three local championships, three regional championships, and two state championships.
He frequently guest lectures on ethics and professionalism at events hosted by the Collier County Bar Association and at The Florida Bar Board Certification and Review Course for Civil Trial and Business Litigation.
“I’m very honored to present this award to you tonight — and congratulations,” Muñiz said.
In accepting the award, Cheffy said he couldn’t think of any honor as meaningful as the Anstead Award and thanked everyone involved in his nomination, especially his colleagues in Collier County.
“We have a very special bar association in Collier County,” Cheffy said. “I think partly because we are fairly small and fairly new, but we have a culture that promotes civility, professionalism, and collegiality.”
