Family Law Section honors Center for Child Counseling
THE CENTER FOR CHILD COUNSELING, INC., is the recipient of the Family Law Section’s 2019 chair’s honorarium. The center is a childhood mental health nonprofit that supports the healing process for children and families experiencing trauma. Abigail Beebe, right, the 2018-2019 section chair, chose Center for Child Counseling to receive the $5,000 honorarium because the organization is “getting to the root” of what causes so many family issues in the first place. “The Center for Child Counseling addresses adversity in individual homes and families interacting with the court system as well as social inequity in the community at large,” Beebe said. “They bring a special kind of compassion and commitment to their work and really advocate for the best interests of our children.” Chief Program Officer Lauren Scirrotto and board member and Family Law Section member Eddie Stephens accepted the check on behalf of the center during the section’s Annual Awards and Installation Luncheon in June.
