The event coincides with the section's fall committee meetings in Naples August 25-26

50th Anniversary GalaIn 1973, the Bar Family Law Section was formed, with the late George Onoprienko serving as its first chair. Over the next 50 years, the section evolved into a thriving organization of more than 4,000 members from across the state, including attorneys, members of the judiciary, paralegals, and professional affiliates.

The Family Law Section’s mission is to promote the highest standards of professionalism and legal advocacy in the delivery of a wide array of services to families while seeking the consistent, fair, and expeditious administration of justice.

To celebrate its golden anniversary, the section plans a Roaring 20’s-themed gala set for Saturday, August 26, at The Ritz Carlton in Naples. The event will culminate the section’s annual fall committee meetings scheduled for August 25.

“We’re extraordinarily proud of the section’s accomplishments over the past five decades,” said Chair Sarah Kay. “Countless section members over the years have been directly involved in successfully securing critical legislation to protect and help Florida’s families and children, provide high accurate, timely, and engaging continuing legal education, and serve as a resource to the legal and greater communities on all family-law related matters. The gala is a fun way to celebrate the incredible successes we’ve achieved throughout the years.”

The 50th Anniversary Gala is a black-tie optional affair and includes a reception, dinner, dancing, live music from Z Street Speakeasy Band, a themed photo booth.

Guests are encouraged to don “Roaring 20s” styled attire. Tickets for section members are $125 per person and can be purchased at familylawfla.org/event.
