Feiter named certified lawyer of the year
THOMAS BERT FEITER, left, received the 2015 Justice Harry Lee Anstead Florida Bar Board Certified Lawyer of the Year Award at the Bar’s Annual Convention in Boca Raton from Board of Legal Specialization and Education Chair John Henry Pelzer. Feiter of Fighter Law in Orlando served as the Army’s first special victims counsel in the Middle East, particularly with Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps Reserve and the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal. According to those who nominated him: “His integrity is beyond reproach, in dealing with Army commanders, fellow JAG attorneys, and soldier clients. While in Kuwait, he traveled to austere and sometimes hostile locations in Afghanistan, Jordan, and Egypt to counsel sexual assault victims as part of his special victims counsel duties. Even when he was faced with personal danger, he did not let that factor into his obligation to provide legal advice to his clients.” Feiter also has taken an active role in the community to assist young lawyers prepare for court, in addition to volunteering at local law schools. He has been board certified in criminal trial since 2012.
