FFLA launches new application process for civil legal aid providers to access IOTA funds
FFLA, formerly The Florida Bar Foundation, has launched an application for civil legal aid providers to apply to become qualified grantee organizations eligible to receive funding through its annual IOTA distribution.
“In an effort to expand the number of civil legal aid providers in our network, FFLA has created an application that allows our staff and board to evaluate potential new grantees,” FFLA President Roberto R. Pardo said. “The application ensures that all potential grantees are thoroughly vetted and have an opportunity to provide detailed information about their services.”
FFLA distributes IOTA funds collected each fiscal year no later than six months after the end of the fiscal year. In December 2023, FFLA distributed $33.8 million to 35 qualified grantee organizations. Per Florida Bar Rule 5-1.1(g), FFLA must select qualified grantee organizations based on objective standards it developed. The application incorporates those standards, as well as questions about financial stability, staffing and client selection.
