Florida Clerks of CourtIn recognition of National Adoption Month, Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC) celebrate the thousands of families who open their hearts and homes through adoption.

“Every adoption represents a story of hope and new beginnings,” said FCCC President and Hernando County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Doug Chorvat, Jr,. “Florida’s Clerks are proud to be a trusted partner in that journey. We ensure the process is accessible, confidential, and completed with the highest level of care and professionalism.”

Clerks serve as the administrative foundation for adoption proceedings across the state. Each year, clerks help guide individuals and families through the legal process of adoption with compassion, efficiency, and accuracy.

From the start, clerks assist families by filing initial adoption petitions, managing confidential records in compliance with state law, and offering resources to help guide families through court procedures and legal requirements. Throughout the adoption process, clerks ensure each case moves smoothly by managing documents, scheduling hearings, and providing courtroom support to judges and families. Once an adoption is finalized, clerks issue certified copies of the final judgment, coordinate with the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics for new birth certificates, and securely maintain sealed records for authorized future access, helping families begin their next chapter with confidence.
