The Florida Clerks of Court Operations Corporation hired former state senator Rob Bradley as its general counsel during its executive council meeting February 21 in Daytona Beach.

A Clay County native, Bradley, who served in the Florida Senate from 2012-2020, has a deep understanding of budgeting and the judicial system with a strong background in government.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity, and I think it’s a perfect fit,” Bradley said.

The CCOC formed a general counsel work group back in December when previous counsel Rob Boyd announced he would step down from his post. The work group met on February 6 to recommend Bradley for the role.

A longstanding member of The Florida Bar, Bradley will keep his position as managing partner of Bradley, Garrison & Komando, P.A., and perform his duties as general counsel for the CCOC on an as-needed basis.

“The idea of me being integrated into the organization on an as-needed ad-hoc basis I think that is certainly the way I’ve worked with all of my government clients, so I feel it’s a natural extension of how I do business,” Bradley said. “I think the clients that I’ve worked with have found real value with that.”

During his time in the Legislature, Bradley worked with many in the judicial system. He’s received accolades from prosecutors, sheriffs, police chiefs, public defenders, as well as the Conference of County Court Judges. In 2013, Bradley was named the Florida Clerks and Comptrollers Legislator of the Year.

Bradley’s experience working with local government is also extensive. On top of serving as a Clay County commissioner prior to his stint in the Legislature, Bradley served as general counsel for the Council on Aging, the general counsel to the Town of Orange Park, the City of Keystone Heights, The Crossings Community Development District (Eagle Harbor), the City of Atlantic Beach and Baker County.

The CCOC executive council approved Bradley’s hire unanimously.

“I think I speak for everyone on the council that with your reputation and your accomplishments that we’re fortunate and glad to have you as our general counsel,” said Indian River Clerk and executive council Chair Jeffery Smith.
