Four join FFLA’s Board of Directors

FFLA logoLaura Boeckman, Lynn Drysdale, Miriam Soler Ramos, and James “Jim” Robinson have been appointed to the Funding Florida Legal Aid Board of Directors, with each appointment effective July 1 for a three-year term.

Boeckman and Robinson were appointed by the Florida Supreme Court. Drysdale and Ramos were appointed by The Florida Bar. Two additional members will be appointed by an FFLA committee.

Laura Boeckman

Boeckman previously served on FFLA’s Board of Directors in 2023-2024. She currently chairs FFLA’s Law School Civil Legal Clinic Program Review Work Group and is vice-chair of its Budget and Finance Committee.

Boeckman serves as an assistant general counsel in the General Litigation Department for the City of Jacksonville’s Office of General Counsel. Prior to joining the city, she was the North Florida bureau chief for the Consumer Protection Division of the Florida Office of the Attorney General, where she investigated violations of Florida’s consumer protection statutes.

Earlier in her career, Boeckman supervised the consumer law clinic at Florida Coastal School of Law and served as the school’s judicial externship supervisor. She also worked as a staff attorney at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, representing low-income clients in matters including mortgage foreclosure, debt collection, and bankruptcy. She began her legal career as a judicial law clerk for Judge Harvey E. Schlesinger in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Boeckman earned her law degree and master’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from Saint Mary’s College, magna cum laude.

Boeckman is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association, the ABA, and the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She is also a member of the executive committee of the Chester Bedell Inn of Court.

Lynn Drysdale

Lynn Drysdale

Drysdale is a senior attorney in the Consumer Advocacy and Litigation Unit at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, where she has advocated on behalf of low-income consumers for more than three decades. Her work focuses on a wide range of consumer protection issues including mortgage and other secured and unsecured predatory lending, problematic mortgage servicing, debt collection, and other consumer issues affecting low-income, elderly, and veteran clients.

Drysdale earned her law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. She has served as chair of The Florida Bar Consumer Protection Law Committee, and as co-chair of the board of the National Association of Consumer Advocates.

Drysdale has testified before the U.S. Senate by invitation twice, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Federal Reserve Board on consumer financial issues and has trained legal professionals across the country.

Miriam Soler Ramos

Miriam Soler Ramos

Ramos is a real estate attorney at Holland & Knight where she focuses on land use and zoning, administrative law, government ethics compliance and defense, procurement, and representing local governments and instrumentalities. She is board certified by The Florida Bar in city, county and local government law.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ramos served as city attorney for Coral Gables, where she was the chief legal officer and general counsel to the city. She previously served as deputy city attorney and city prosecutor and held several roles at the Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust, including deputy general counsel and deputy advocate. She began her legal career as an assistant state attorney in Miami-Dade County.

Ramos earned her law degree and bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. She currently serves as president-elect of the University of Miami Law Alumni Association and serves on the board of the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida and Friends of The Underline. She is also a member of the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee and serves as treasurer of the City, County and Local Government Law Section. She is a past president of the Cuban American Bar Association and serves on the board of CABA’s Foundation. In 2023, Ramos was selected to participate in Leadership Florida’s Cornerstone Class 41.

James “Jim” Robinson

Jim Robinson

Robinson is a partner at White & Case, leading the firm’s Americas Litigation Section. He represents domestic and international clients in complex commercial disputes and has extensive experience in trials, appeals, and professional liability defense. His practice includes the representation of law firms, accounting firms, financial institutions, real estate developers, and technology companies.

Robinson earned his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. Robinson currently serves as a trustee of the UF Law Center Association and has served in several professional organizations, including the Federal Bar Association, the Bar’s Trial Lawyers Section, and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.
