The FSU College of Law is touting its latest Best Law Schools of 2023 ranking by Princeton Review.

FSU ranked second in the nation in “quality of life,” and seventh in “quality of law professors.”

FSU Law School Dean Erin O’Connor said in a statement that she was “thrilled.”

“Students often tell us that our college atmosphere and the quality of our professors are their favorite things about FSU Law, so it’s gratifying to be ranked among the nation’s top law schools in those areas,” O’Connor said. “Providing our students with a positive, academically rigorous experience is key to their success in law school and beyond.”

According to the Princeton Review, the results are based on data from the company’s surveys of administrators at 168 law schools in 2021-22, and surveys of 17,000 students enrolled at the schools during the 2021-22, 2020-21, and 2019-2020 school years.

Quality of life rankings are based on student responses to survey questions about whether there is a “strong sense of community,” and whether “differing opinions are tolerated in the classroom.” The survey also asks students about the school’s location, quality of social life, and quality of research resources.

The survey ranked FSU just behind the University of Virginia School of Law, and just ahead of Vanderbilt University Law School in quality of life.

The professor ranking is based on student answers to questions concerning “how good their professors are as teachers” and “how accessible they are outside of the classroom.”

FSU ranked just ahead of No. 8 Boston College Law School and just behind No. 6 University of Notre Dame College of Law in quality of professors. The survey put the University of Chicago Law School at No. 1.
