Gov. Ron DeSantis made two judicial appointments in September.
Brad King of Ocala to serve as judge on the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court
King served as the state attorney for the Fifth Circuit from 1989 to 2020. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and his juris doctor from the University of Florida. King fills the judicial vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Richard Singeltary.
Luis Bustamante of Chiefland to the Levy County bench
Bustamante has served as an assistant state attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit since 2015. Previously, he served as the sole practitioner for the Law Office of Luis Bustamante. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and his juris doctor from Florida State University. Bustamante fills the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge James Browning.
