Innocense Project of Florida hosts Miami fundraiser

Nellie King and Seth Miller THE INNOCENCE PROJECT OF FLORIDA recently held a fundraising event in Miami. Among the 250 or so in attendance was Nellie King, left, president of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, an organization that recently dedicated more than $20,000 to support the work of IPF. The IPF also presented its Frank Lee Smith Innocence Award to Marty McClain and the Talbot “Sandy” D’Alemberte Commitment to Justice Award to Holland & Knight. Also on hand were a number of Florida exonerees including Wilton Dedge (22 years), Orlando Boquete (13 years), Juan Melendez (17 years on death row), Luis Diaz (25 years), Bill Dillon (27.5 years), James Bain (35 years), Derrick Williams (18 years), and Alan Crotzer (24.5 years).
