The Jacksonville Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) has once again been recognized on the national stage, receiving the National Chapter of the Year Award.

This is the fourth time the chapter has earned the honor. No other ABOTA chapter has received the award more than twice.

ABOTA is a national, invitation-only organization of approximately 7,300 experienced trial lawyers and judges committed to preserving and promoting the right to civil jury trials as set forth in the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Membership is offered to those who exhibit civility, integrity and professionalism, have at least five years of active experience as trial lawyers, have tried at least seven civil jury trials to conclusion and possess additional litigation experience.

“We are incredibly proud of the work our chapter continues to do in support of our judiciary and the rule of law,” said Jamie Holland, president of the Jacksonville Chapter. “This recognition is a reflection of our shared commitment to protecting the Constitution, the right to trial by jury, and the integrity of our judicial system.”

The Jacksonville Chapter’s programs reflect ABOTA’s mission through broad outreach to lawyers, judges, and the public. Among the chapter’s initiatives are:

  • Educational programs for schools and community groups that focus on the Constitution and jury trials.
  • Mock trial competitions for high school and law students.
  • Judicial education workshops, tailored to judges’ real-world needs.

The Chapter of the Year honor was awarded during the 2025 National ABOTA Summer Conference & National Board Meeting, which was held at the Fairmont Banff Springs in Alberta, Canada.
