Justice Renatha Francis was sworn in as Florida’s 92nd Supreme Court justice in Tallahassee September 1.
“I am looking forward to doing the great work of the courts, to work with all my colleagues, to getting to know each and every one of you better,” she said. “I am told this is a very collegial body. I can feel it, I can sense it in just the short time I have visited the court in the last few days. I am looking forward to getting right to it.

The day before, retiring Justice Alan Lawson bid farewell to colleagues and court staff in a Supreme Court Rotunda ceremony that marked his final day in office.
A native of Jamaica and 2010 Florida Coastal School of Law graduate, Justice Francis served as a 15th Circuit judge since 2019, and as a Miami-Dade County judge from 2017 to 2019.
