Legal Aid Service of Collier County honors Judge Lauren Brodie for decades of public service

Judge Brodie will receive the award at LASCC’s First Annual Impact Awards luncheon on Thursday, November 20, at the Hilton in Naples.
“We are pleased to be able to honor Judge Brodie for over 40 years of highly impactful service to our local community,” said Carol O’Callaghan, LASCC’s regional deputy executive director. “Having served with distinction for 34 years on the bench, she has earned the many accolades she has received over the years. Judge Brodie is not only a skilled jurist, she is a very caring person who was instrumental in the formation of the Attorney Wellness Initiative with the Collier County Bar Association. She exemplifies excellence in public service and we are proud to honor her with this award which she richly deserves.”
Named after the late Cathy Lucrezi, a former Legal Aid Supervising Attorney, this award is given by Legal Aid Service of Collier County to honor those who have modeled and exemplified a lifelong dedication to excellence in public service and whose efforts have made a lasting impact on the local community. LASCC says Judge Brodie’s lifetime of public service reflects these values perfectly.
Others to be honored at the Impact Awards include Sheila Kumar, who will receive the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award, and Melissa Grege Schiffman, who will be recognized with an Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award.
Judge Brodie graduated from Brandeis University, cum laude, and received her JD from the University of Miami School of Law. Brodie served as a judge throughout the 20th Circuit from 1999 until her appointment to the circuit bench by Gov. Jeb Bush in October, 2001. Prior to that, Judge Brodie served as a an 11th Circuit judge from 1995-1998 and as a Miami-Dade County judge from 1991-1994. She also served as the assistant city attorney of the City of North Miami Beach from 1983-1990.
Judge Brodie has served as a faculty member of the Florida Judicial College teaching all new judges in Florida from 1992-1998 and again from 2006-2011. She has also served as a member of the Education Committee for the Florida Conference of Circuit Court Judges and has taught at judicial education conferences. Judge Brodie has served as a mentor trainer for the 20th Circuit and has personally mentored several new judges.
Judge Brodie is a member of the Thomas S. Biggs American Inns of Court (Collier County Chapter) and has served as an associate judge of the Second District Court of Appeal. Judge Brodie also participates in civic and law related activities in the community.
Judge Brodie was named the 2022 William M. Hoeveler Judicial Professionalism Award winner and was recognized at The Annual Florida Bar Convention.
