Legal Services of Greater Miami honors Alan Greer and Dr. Pedro “Joe” Greer with Equal Justice Leadership Awards

Legal Services of Greater Miami (Legal Services) honored Alan G. Greer and Dr. Pedro “Joe” Greer at the 14th Annual Heart of Giving Celebration and Judicial Reception.
Legal Services Board Director Laura Zapata-Kim presented Dr. Greer with the 2023 Equal Justice Humanitarian Leadership Award for his professional accomplishments and service. Dr. Greer, who established Camillus Health Concern and Saint John Bosco Clinic in Miami, and more recently the founding dean of the Roseman School of Health Sciences in Las Vegas, has been a long-time advocate for health equity and a champion of the homeless and underserved communities.
Event Chair Lilly Ann Sanchez presented Alan Greer, a former Miami partner at Day Pitney, with the 2023 Equal Justice Leadership Award for his noteworthy career achievements, as well as his outstanding contributions to the pursuit of justice through his relentless efforts in the fight against homelessness.
“We are incredibly proud of both of these remarkable honorees who have been tireless and effective advocates for the homeless for decades, and we are grateful for their lifelong dedication to service,” said Monica Vigues-Pitan, CEO of Legal Services. “Their leadership and vision are an inspiration for many of us who aspire to create a more fair and equitable community where all have access to greater economic opportunities despite the zip code where they reside.”
The celebration drew over 350 members of the legal, business, and civic community.
Legal Services, the largest provider of broad-based civil legal services for low-income residents in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, acknowledges and thanked the more than 70 event sponsors, as well as all the attendees and partners, whose support and participation made it a memorable evening.
