A recent cocktail fundraiser is giving Legal Services of Greater Miami much to crow about, especially a $10,000 gift and pledges of continued financial support from a local wealth management company.

Organizers say more than 100 “distinguished professionals and philanthropists” gathered at the popular Fiola’s La Terraza in Coral Gables earlier this month for a fundraiser dubbed “Cocktails Under the Stars.”

Wealth management firm Evensky & Katz/Foldes pledged a $10,000, (multi-year) gift and committed to sponsoring Legal Services of Greater Miami’s annual fundraisers for the next three years.

In addition to the gift, “more than $11,000 was raised through gifts, raffles, and proceeds from a silent auction,” organizers say. Organizers say much of the credit for a successful event belongs to the host committee: Scott Baena, Jeremy Daniels, David Evensky, Michael Gongora, Eric Gros-Dubois, Jim Meyer, Lilly Ann Sanchez, Roland Sanchez-Medina, Marcos Segrera, Ari A. Sweetbaum, and Josh Young.

Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. is a not-for-profit that provides free civil legal services for the low-income communities of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
