Legal Services of Greater Miami’s Cocktails Under the Stars raises over $50,000
Legal Services of Greater Miami raised over $50,000 at its Third Annual Cocktails Under the Stars reception on October 17. The funds will be used to support legal advocacy for the low-income residents of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
“Legal services are crucial for ensuring that justice and equality are upheld for every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances,” said Roland Sanchez-Medina, Jr., president of The Florida Bar and partner at SMGQ Law. “Fundraising events such as Cocktails Under the Stars play a vital role in providing the necessary resources to increase awareness about our cause. These events empower us to deliver essential legal assistance to those in need, significantly impacting the lives of individuals and communities. It is an incredible honor to be part of that.”
Legal Services CEO Monica Vigues-Pitan said the event exceeded expectations and created opportunities to forge new relationships.
“We look forward to continuing this tradition which supports our advocacy and directly impacts the lives of those we serve,” Vigues-Pitan said
Sponsor Evensky & Katz/Foldes Wealth Management contributed “significantly” to the event’s success by helping it reach a wider audience, according to the organization.
“I’m proud to support causes like this that help individuals build stability and resilience, which in turn strengthens our entire community,” said Marcos Segrera, principal at Evensky
More than 200 guests attended the event, which was held at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The evening also featured a silent auction, a wine pull, and a raffle, with all proceeds directly supporting Legal Services of Greater Miami.
The Cocktails Under the Stars host committee, led by David Evensky and Marcos Segrera, also included President Sanchez-Medina, Brian Barakat, Frank Gonzalez, Eric Gros-Dubois, Jordi Guso, Andrea Guzman, John Kozyak, Nicholas Landera, Javier Lopez, James Meyer, Elena Otero, Alexander Peraza, Carlos Perez-Abreu, Bar Board of Governors member Jorge Piedra, Tony Recio, Carlos & Johannah Rodriguez, Manny & Sandra Rodriguez, Alejandro Ruiz, Jose & Elaine Segrera, Eduardo Soto, Luis E.
