Marjorie Gadarian Graham will be the featured speaker at the annual 50 Year Member and Senior Counselor Luncheon at the Bar’s Annual Convention in Orlando. The luncheon is set for Friday, June 24, at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek & Waldorf Astoria.

Graham, a member of the 2022 50-year class, has a long record of service to the legal profession. Her legal career began in 1972 when she was appointed as a research aide to Judge James H. Walden at the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal. Graham then worked at Jones & Foster from 1974 to 1987, and was the first woman to be made a shareholder in that law firm. From 1987 to 2021 she was a solo practitioner specializing in civil appellate practice.

For nearly 50 years Graham represented clients in all of Florida’s DCAs, the Florida Supreme Court, the federal 11th Circuit Court of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court which resulted in more than 500 appellate decisions. She is a life member of the American Law Institute and has been named a Best Lawyer in America and a Florida Super Lawyer. The Florida Supreme Court recognized her as a recipient of a Silver Award for exceptional pro bono service in 2011. Throughout her 50-year legal career, she has served on a multitude of professional service committees, including Florida Bar and Florida Supreme Court committees, and has written numerous articles and lectured on appellate practice. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Florida College of Law, is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Practice, and is recognized as a Preeminent Lawyer. Graham is also an active member of the Florida Bar Senior Lawyers Committee.

Both 50-year members of The Florida Bar and senior counselors from law school graduating classes of 1972 will be recognized during the event. The senior counselors program recognizes current active and inactive Florida Bar members in good standing who have practiced law for 50 years or more and have not previously been recognized by The Florida Bar for this accomplishment.

All 50-year honorees are encouraged to submit “then and now” photos and brief messages for the luncheon’s Voices of Experience slide presentation. Messages may include personal reflections, advice to young lawyers, or lessons learned during their 50-year law career. Please submit your photos and brief quotes (50 words or less) to Cheri Wright, Program Administrator for the Senior Lawyers Committee, at [email protected] on Tuesday, May 31 for inclusion.

Florida Bar members admitted in 1972 who are considered members in good standing and did not receive their invitation letters or who want more information about the luncheon should also contact Wright.
